Genndy Tartakovsky was born on 17th January 1970 in Moscow in the erstwhile Soviet Union. He is a director, producer, and animator. His parents’ names were Boris and Miriam. His father was a dentist by profession and mother was a school assistant principal. He also has an older brother, Alexander, who is a computer engineer in the USA. The Tartakovsky family was first settled in Moscow. They moved to Italy. It was here in Italy that Genndy was bitten by the bug of art. They moved to the USA in the year 1997 asanti-Semitism Spread wings across Italy.

He did his schooling from Eugene Field Elementary School in the city of Chicago and then did his high school from the renowned Lane Technical College Prep High School. The director had a difficult school experience as he was treated as an outsider in the city. His father passed away when he was just 16 years old. He started working to support his family along with his studies. The director had decided to take up advertising but had to settle for animation because of the late application. He started studying animation at the California Institute of the Arts.

While in college, he animated and directed two movies. Here, he befriended Craig McCracken. One of these two movies later inspired the famous cartoon series Dexter’s Laboratory. After college, he went to Spain to work. His friend McCracken suggested Tartakovsky’s name for the show 2 Stupid Dogs. It totally changed the direction of Tartakovsky’s career. The duo along with Robert Renzetti and Paul Rudish began working together. They created the famous Dexter’s Laboratory cartoon series. Tartakovsky even wrote its comic series called the “Stubble Trouble.”

The director was also the producer and animator of another successful animated show The Powerpuff Girls. Samurai Jack is another outstanding creation of Genndy. In 2011, he made the animated prolog of the film Priest.

Genndy joined Sony Pictures in 2011. He has directed the film Hotel Transylvania Click to look into! >> Read More... under this banner. He also started the work on his project on a Popeye-animated film, but dropped the project to direct “Can You Imagine?”. The director moved out of the Sony Pictures in 2016. He has a huge bunch of awards in his kitty, which includes, WAC Award in the category Best Television Special for Dexter’s Laboratory: Ego Trip (2001), OIAF Award in the category Best Television Series for Samurai Jack, two Annie Awards and three Emmy Awards for various ventures.
