He started his career in feature films in 1963 with a comedy genre movie Come Blow Your Horn. His last movie was released in 2021 titled Liars and Cheats. He has worked in 36 films and mostly all are in the comedy genre. He has worked in 50 TV series starting in 1948 with a comedy series The Arrow Show and his last series was Hoy Nos Toca in 2017.
He worked in 458 episodes in these 50 series. He worked in 65 TV movies starting from 1954 with a Musical movie Satins and Spurs. And his last movie was Pletykak in 2011. He has also worked in 27 TV specials with the first one in 1954 titled Max Liebman Present: Spotlight. And his last special was in 2006 which was a documentary titled The Mark Twain Prize: Neil Simon. In 1979 he was the winner of the Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement. In 1995 he won Kennedy Center Honors. In 2004, he won the OFTA film hall of fame. In 2006, he won Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. In 1978, he won The Golden Globe for Best screenplay- motion picture for The Goodbye Girl. In 1978, he won the Special David for his description of the American Society in his scripts. In 1989, he was the winner of the Creative Achievement Awards in American Comedy Awards. He was four times in Oscar but had never won that. He died on 26 August 2018 in Manhattan, New York City.
