Mike Bartlett is an English playwright who was born on 7th October 1980 in Oxford, England.  He went to Abingdon School. At the University of Leeds, he studied English and Theatre Studies. In 2002, he made his debut with The Love At Last. In the same year, his play, Swimming for Beginners, was staged at The Workshop Theatre, Leeds. The next year, his play, Why People Really Burn, was staged, and in 2005, he wrote Silent Charities.
In 2005, he participated in New Voices, which had 24 Hour Plays. His play Comfort was staged in 24 hours in New Voices. Not Talking was his radio play that was broadcast on BBC on 29th March 2007. Mike Bartlett won the Tinniswood Award for his radio play, Not Talking. He also received Imison Award for being a new writer of a radio play. In 2007, he worked for Royal Court Theatre as the writer in residence. One of his plays, My Child, was staged at Royal Court Theatre. In 2008, he staged Artefacts, his play at The Bush Theatre. In the same year, his radio play, Love Contract, was premiered at Royal Court Theatre. The same theater witnessed his next play Cock, in 2009. James Macdonald directed it. The play received Laurence Olivier Award.
Some of his theatre plays are Contractions at the Royal Court in 2008, Earthquakes in London at the National Theatre in 2010, Love, Love, Love in 2010, 13 at the National Theatre in 2011–2012 and Theatre Royal, Newcastle in 2016, Chariots of Fire in Hampstead Theatre and Gielgud Theatre in 2012- 2013, Bull at Crucible Studio Theatre, An Intervention in 2014, King Charles III in 2014 at the Almeida Theatre in London, and the Sydney Theatre Company in Australia, Game in 2015, Wild at Hampstead Theatre in London in 2016, Albion at Almeida Theatre in London in 2017, Snowflake in 2018 at the Old Fire Station in Oxford and Vassa in 2019 at the Almeida Theatre.

In 2015 Doctor Foster accomplished the New Drama award from the National Television Awards. In 2016 Barlett won Outstanding Newcomer for British Television Writing for his play Doctor Foster at the British Screenwriters’ Awards. In 2017 Doctor Foster (the second series) was broadcasted on BBC, so did his adaptation of his stage play King Charles III. He obtained Tinniswood Award (2006), Richard Imison Award (2006), and BAFTA award nomination (2013) for Breakthrough Talent (in the tv Craft category). King Charles III acquired the best New Play for both the Critic’s Circle Award and the Olivier Award. And the same play, King Charles III was also nominated for the Tony Award for the Best New Play. Love LoveLove won the Theatre Awards UK (2011) for the Best New Play. For Not Talking, he won Imison prizes and also the Writer’s Guild Tinniswood. And for Artefacts, he won the Old Vic New Voices Award.
