Lupita Amondi Nyong’o was the child of to Peter and Dorothy Nyong’o and was raised in Kenya. Her father who was a senator worked as a visiting professor in political science in Mexico City, Mexico. She was sent to Mexico at the age of 16 to learn the language Spanish. She studied Film Studies at the Hampshire College, located in Massachusetts and graduated from the Yale School of Drama’s acting class.
