Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham was born on May 13, 1986. She was born in New York City, in United States. At just 29, Lena Dunham is multi-talented as she not just acts in films, but also writes, produces and directs them.

Early Life

Lena Dunham started her school at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn. She later attended The New School  just after a year got transferred to Oberlin College. She graduated from her college with a degree in creative writing. She was born to Carroll Dunham and Laurie Simmons. Her father was a painter and mother, an artist and photographer. Her mother is of Jewish origin and father a Protestant, but Dunham regards herself as a cultural Jewish. Dunham has a younger sister, Grace Dunham. Her sister has appeared for many of her projects which include Tiny Furniture.

Work

Lena Dunham had already produced several short films which she uploaded on YouTube. Her films initially dealt with sexual enlightenment. She started by acting, writing and directing the short film Dealing in 2006. Along with her younger sister she wrote, directed and acted in the film Creative Non-fiction. In 2010, she directed and wrote Tiny Furniture, which featured Jemima Kirke and her younger sister. With the success of Tiny Furniture, she bragged a deal with HBO. She is the creator and directed of the popular series Girls. She became immensely popular with her show on HBO. The first edition of series was premiered in 2012. She received three nominations for Best acting, writing and directing at the Emmy Awards. She won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in Comedy. Her show continued to its success since its release in 2012 and is still going strong. Her show from 2012 to 2015, got 17 nominations and four wins. Today the show is amongst the top rated television series. Lena Dunham has proved her versatility as she has been successful with writing, directing, acting and producing. At just 29, Lena is a promising talent, and a lot more is expected from  her in the future.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed by HBO that the season six and the last season of Girls would be premiered this year. Lena will continue her association with films and television series in the coming future.
