Sam Elliott

Sam Elliott (Samuel Pack Elliott), born in Sacramento, California is an American actor. His gray hair, tall and lean structure, old-fashioned biker mustache and a Southern American accent landed him a lot of roles as a Cowboy. His debut movie ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ released in 1969 and was a blockbuster. He mostly plays the roles of a mentor over the main character as in the movie Ghostrider in which he played the role of The Caretaker mentoring Nicholas Cage. He was born in a middle-class family. He was nine when he decided to have a career in acting.

His father died when he was eighteen and was struggling with his career. He had his first break in Vancouver, Washington, where he was cast as a lead in the play Guys and Dolls for which he became famous in the city. His alma mater is Cal State LA where he still is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He fell in love with actress Katharine Ross whom he met during the filming of The Legacy in 1978. They both have been married since 1984. This is Katharine’s fifth marriage. They both have a daughter. In the era of 70s, he worked in the famous TV series Mission: Impossible as one of the leads.

He got his first breakthrough in the movie Mask in the year 1985. He played the role of Sam Houston in his biopic Gone to Texas in 1986 for which the critics loved him.
