Elias Koteas

Elias Koteas is a Greek-Canadian actor, born on 11th March 1961, in Montreal, Canada. His father worked for the Canadian National Railways as a mechanic, and his mother used to manufacture and design hats. His parents belonged to Greek descent, from the cultural region in Greece named Mani. He even speaks French and Greek fluently. He worked as an actor as well a producer for the film Jack Squared (2013); wherein he played the character of Jake Klein, a filmmaker whose film shoot goes out of control when his younger versions appear there and gives him suggestions on how to patch up his broken life. He won the Spirit of New York Award at the Big Apple Film Festival in 2013, and the Special Jury Award at the Phoenix Film Festival in 2014. Elias even appeared in a Canadian French historical drama flick Ararat (2002). He portrayed the character of Ali, a Turkish Canadian actor. At the Genie Awards in 2003, he won the ‘Best Performance in a Supporting Role’ Award and the film won the ‘Best Motion Picture’ Award. The movie had mixed response from critics and it also got banned in many countries because of its controversial content.

Apart from movies, he has also worked in a few Television shows as well. He even got appreciated for his portrayal of James Skinner in the American crime drama series The Killing. It got aired on 3rd April 2011 on AMC networks. He is currently working on the police procedural drama series Chicago P.D; wherein he is playing the role of Detective Alvin Olinsky. In 1987, he got married to American actress, Jennifer Rubin. However, their relationship didn’t work well, so they got divorced after three years in 1990.
