Liam Matthews is an American actor, producer, visual artist and filmmaker. He does both theatre and film acting. He has been performing for over twenty years. He was born on 8 July 1968 in Toledo, Ohio, The United States of America to William Donald (Bill) Tailford, an advertising executive at Tailford Cooper Smith’s firm, and Jacquelyn Ann Dawson, jazz singer Sheila Jordan’s sister and a homemaker. He did his schooling from Sylvania Northview High School and graduated in 1986.
He has done theatre shows like Return to the Forbidden Planet, Much Ado About Nothing, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Chaps, Scapino, Lost in Yonkers and Dancing at Lughnasa. He completed his graduation from Hope College, Liberal Arts College in Holland, Michigan. In college, he was a member of men's Ice Hockey team and also served as a substitute teacher. From 1986 to 1989, he served in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California. In 1999, he started teaching at Reed City elementary school after completing a teaching assignment at the Liverpool Church of England Schools.
In 2000, during spring break, he met a fellow teacher named Cronk and found that they had a lot of similarities. He earned a job as an Art Director for Dear Doughboy. They both went to Los Angeles in relation to work. There, they realized that they should try producing work of Cronk. They produced it in Compass Film Academy. Ralph Winter appreciated their work and asked them to continue film-making. In 2004, he got his MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) degree from the University of Michigan. He likes to cycle and stay fit.
In 2015, he played the role of Bobby in the film called ‘Do You Believe.’ He and Dallas Jenkins became friends and started 10 West Studios. The first production of the company is ‘What If‘. In 2006, they returned and focused on film-making. They picked up a Mark Twain written piece. They made a 10-minute short film named “War Prayer.” He was the producer and lead actor in it. In 2006, he won an Award at the Beverly Hills International Film Festival for the movie. He is the founder of EMC Productions. He says that Hollywood is the place where people’s reaction changes with your status.
He believes in not losing his soul and heart. He once said humorously that he is not recognised as a celebrity but is known in the church. He has done films like Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Conspiracy, ISRA 88, Jerusalem Countdown and The Book of Daniel.
