Kyle Martin Chandler is an American actor who has been active on both TV and the silver screen. He was born 17 September, 1965 in Buffalo,
New York, United States. He is notable for his roles in TV shows and films like Early Edition,
Friday Night Lights,
Zero Dark Thirty, ‘
Carol’ and others. His father, Edward Chandler was a medical sales representative. He has German, Irish and English ancestry. He has three siblings and is currently married to Sally Jeanette Chandler who is into dog breeding; they have two children together.
Born in New York, he was raised in Illinois, Chicago. At the age of eleven his family shifted to Georgia. He was helping his family with dog breeding and attended many dog shows. He studied in the academy of George Walton near Monroe and graduated in 1983. He was a part of the state football team; he left the team in 1980 because of his father’s death and went on to do theater. His mother took care of him and his siblings after his father’s death by running the kennel business.
After his graduation, he joined the Georgia University where he was a major in drama. Later, he fell short of seven credits and dropped out of the university to go ahead with a television deal. He was brought to Hollywood by ABC production in 1988. He got his first break in the show ‘Tour of Duty.’ His film debut was in 1992, in the movie ‘Pure Country’ by George Strait. His regular TV show was aired from 1991-1993 which was an ABC production called ‘
Homefront’ which was a drama showcasing the era of post-World War II. This show had two seasons.
In 1994, he made his Broadway debut in a remake of the play ‘Picnic’ which was originally made by William Inge. His brilliant performance was seen in the show ‘Early Edition.’ It was aired from 1996-2000 and had four seasons. This role won him the Saturn Award in the category of Best Actor in 1996. He appeared in the show ‘What about Joan’, opposite
John Cusack in 2001; this was a comedy show. His next appearance was in 2003 where he played a lawyer’s character ‘The Lyon’s Den'.
His next role was in ‘King Kong’ which came out in 2005. He played the role of Bruce Baxter. In February 2006, he returned to TV; he played a guest star role in ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ He was again seen in a guest role in Grey’s Anatomy aired in the February, 2007. His guest appearance was duly appreciated and he won a nomination in the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards in the category of Best Guest Actor in Drama. From the year 2006, we saw him on one of the most loved TV shows, ‘Friday Night Lights'.
Peter Berg was developing this show and he cast Chandler for the lead role, the football coach, Eric Taylor. His role was loved by the viewers. This show was based on the book of same name written by Buzz Bissinger. This show ended in 2011 with many ups and downs. This appreciated role won him the best actor award in Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2016, it is said that he will be seen in the much awaited film, Sydney Hall directed by Shawn Christensen. His family including him has been staying in Texas. His mother passed away in 2014, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s. He is active as a volunteer in firefighting, he takes part in charity to raise funds for football players suffering from injuries concerning the spinal cord. He and his daughter have been active in eradicating the act of Shark Finning. The movie Argo has won Best Cast Award from Screen Actors Guild, Palm Springs International, Hollywood Films and others.
