The story of the serial is based in the rural area of Dillon, located in Austin, Texas. Dillon is a town where victory in the football championship was meant to be the greatest achievement of all. The story revolves around a high school where Coach Eric tries his best to effectively train his football team while managing and struggling with the issues which were arising out of his family. The serial narrates how the various characters, including team members, coaching staff, and the supporters interact with each other, and how these interactions represent the prominent issues and aspects of the American culture. The various aspects of modern American society like racism, drugs, poverty, and family values are depicted through this serial.
