Alex Kendrick

Alex Kendrick, a film director, producer, and actor was born on June 11, 1970. He is a part of the Kendrick Brothers Association along with his brothers Stephen and Shannon. Kendrick was born in Georgia, Athens to Larry and Rhonwyn Kendrick. He spent his childhood in Smyrna, GA, and graduated with a degree in communications from the Kennesaw State University.

He went on to work as a Christian DJ for a couple of radio stations and went on to attend the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Subsequently, he became a minister himself and worked as an associate pastor of Media at the Sherwood Baptist Church. It was during this time at Sherwood that he read a survey which said that movies have started influencing the public more than churches.

He decided to write, direct, and star in his feature films, and co-founded the movie-making body Sherwood Pictures. Sherwood Pictures released four movies, and Kendrick co-wrote all of them. He also acted in them. The second film, "Facing the Giants," received a huge box office collection of over $ 10 million. It went on to become the best-selling Christian DVD of 2007. The third film, "Fireproof," gathered $33.5 million and became a major hit. It won an award at the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, and an Epiphany Prize at the Movie Guide Awards. It collected $34.5 million dollars worldwide and received a Jubilee Award at San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival which was held in 2012.

Kendrick’s acting career involves appearances in all the movies produced by Sherwood, as well as in films such as "The Lost Medallion”, directed by Jaylen (2013) and "Mom’s Night Out Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, directed by Andrew Erwin (2014). The Kendrick Brothers, the production company run by Kendrick and his siblings, released his fifth film " War Room Click to look into! >> Read More... " on August 25, 2015. It is based on the effect of prayer on the lives of individuals.

The cast of the movie includes the best-selling author and Bible tutor Priscilla Shirer, T.C Stallings, Kendrick himself, Michael Jr. and Karen Abercrombie. Kendrick is also a prolific writer. He has authored five novels based on his films, the latter four of which became best- sellers. His book, "The Love Dare," was placed on the New York Times Paperback Advice and Miscellaneous best-seller list for 131 weeks, and made it to the #1 position twice.
