Tara-Jean Popowich, the winner of "So you think you can dance Canada" Season 2, was born and brought up in Canada. In the past, she has been the choreographer of "Carly Rae Jepsen's" and has also spotted as a dancer on "Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show" and "Live with Kelly." Recently, she was also a dancer for Nike and a choreographer for "So you think you can dance" in Ukraine.
When Tara won ‘So you think you can dance Season 2 Canada’, she was awarded $100,000 in cash and a brand new 2010 Mazda sport. Tara is someone who is born to dance and teach dancing. At the age of 17 she got accepted into the prestigious Source dance company. Before rising to fame as Canada's dancing queen, Tara was a dancer for the Filipino-Canadian pop singer-songwriter and actress Elisa Estrada. She can be seen in her music videos and has also danced for her in various Award shows, including the 2009 Juno Awards.
Tara loves Vancouver and proudly calls it her second home. With a passion for dancing, Tara was the youngest teacher on the Faculty at Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver. She has traveled and taught throughout Canada and the US, Paris, India, Ukraine, Italy, Africa, Spain, Germany, Bahamas, London, and China. Her dream is to be as popular as the famous choreographer Mia Michaels.
In 2016, Tara entered the famous Indian TV reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 as a wild card entry. Although she got eliminated and could not win the winning trophy, but her performances and moves were appreciated and loved by all. Speaking about her experience, Tara said to everyone that she loved every moment on the stage and she had no regrets. This experience has given her friends she can call her family and the country where she feel like home.
