George William Sampson is a dancer, singer, and actor born on June 29th, 1993, in Warrington, England. In 2007, his dance teacher Chambers told him that auditions were to be held for the reality dance Tv show, Britain’s Got Talent. He worked very hard for it. In the audition, he danced to the song, Drop. He received an enormous amount of appreciation from both the judges and the public. However, he failed to proceed to the live semi- finals of the show. However, due to this failure, he wasn’t disappointed. Instead, he worked harder, and re- auditioned the following year and entered the semi- finals.
During this one year, he continued dancing on the streets to improve his style, and also to raise money for his family. In 2008, George won Britain’s Got Talent. He danced to Rock This Party and got through the first round. In the semi- finals, he came top in the audience’s vote. In the finals too, he won the audience’s vote, beating Signature in second place, and Andrew in third place. He burst into tears when his victory was announced. The song, Singing in The Rain, topped the charts in the UK the same year on download sales. People also started requesting for a video of George performing on the song.
After the end of the event, George returned to his daily routine. In 2008, George made his stage debut by dancing to the song, Into The Hoods. In November, the same year, an online television show was launched, called Follow My Lead, which included dance tutorials by Sampson. On December 1st, his first dance DVD, Access To All Areas, was released. In the DVD, Sampson danced and sang as well. On January 28th, 2009, he helped in the marketing of Nokia 5800 phone in Regent’s Street in London. He released the game Battle Strikers the same year.
In May, he appeared as the star guest in the third season of Britain’s Got Talent. He also became a contributor of Dance Aid, organized by the charity group Hope and Homes for Children. In 2011, George appeared in the drama series, Waterloo Road. In this series, he portrays the character of a 17-year old boy. He also acted in The Dumping Ground, and Emmerdale. He suffers from Scheuermann’s syndrome, which retards the development of bones in children. George is currently in a relationship with dancer and actress, Lauren Grace since 2015. He won the under 16-category in the United Dance Championships. He also received a scout badge and is a recipient of an award for Favorite Winner at a Kids’ Awards show.
