David Wain

David Wain is an actor, director, comedian, as well as a writer from America.

He was born on the first of August, 1969. He studied at the New York University Film School. He was born in Ohio and currently lives in Los Angeles, California. He was married to Zandy Hartig till 2015.

While studying at the Film School of NYU, he created The New Group along with a few others, which was formed to make sketch comedies. The group’s name graduated to The State eventually, and they made a show, which completed a total of 26 episodes. It aired on MTV. The cast included David Wain, as well as the people who founded it with him. After this alliance had culminated, he made a comedy called ‘Stella’, along with people like Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter.

In his youthful days, he went to a summer camp in Maine. The memories of this event got translated to Wet Hot American Summer, his debut film. He played the lead role in the comedy show, Wainy Days, which portrayed him pairing with numerous women and sharing his issues with his friends. It aired on the website, My Damn Channel. It was quite successful and thus ran for five seasons. Actors who have worked with him for Stella and Wet Hot American Summer, did guest roles in this series. Zandy Hartig, his former wife, was also responsible for the show’s making.

He has lent his voice to the animated show, ‘Superjail!’ as the warden. He also plays the role of the commentator in three TV shows viz. I Love the 70s, I Love the 90s Part Deux, and Best Week Ever. Best Week Ever was channel VH1’s show. He has written the book, State by State with the State, together with the members of the group. He engaged with acting in The Baxter and Keeping the Faith.
