He was born on June 3, 1993, to Terrie Berdy and Scott Berdy in Boca Raton, Florida. He was born deaf, but he never allowed his deafness to become a hindrance in his way to achieve his dreams. Berdy has been interested in magic since his childhood. He used to perform magic to his family and friends. Soon his fondness for magic increased, and he started to do magic shows. He got the Young Magicians Top award at the world magician Festivals. At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Though his life was like a roller coaster ride, he never let go of any opportunity that came his way. In 2005, he got the chance to enter the Hollywood film industry. His first film sequel was The Sandlot Kids 2’ as the naughty Sammy ‘Fingers’ Samuelson. Later, he acted in many other movies like ‘The Bondage’, ‘The Deaf Family’, ‘The Legend of the Mountain Man’, and was featured in public, commercial ads. In 2011, he starred in the film ‘Switched at Birth’ as Emmet Bledsoe for five seasons. He also starred in the Netflix show ‘The Society’s as Sam Eliot, one of the main characters. In 2011, he got nominated for The Teen Choice award. He is articulate in the American Sign Language (ASL), and he also did the on-cam ASL dubbing of ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’. In 2019, he said that he is working on writing a love story featuring ASL. Sean got the name “singing ninja” because of the speed he sings in the American Sign Language. He has raised awareness for the deaf community by using ASL in his Television shows and movies, which gave him the name Mr. Deaf Teen America.
