Ben McKenzie is a renowned American producer and actor. He was born as Benjamin McKenzie Schenkkan on September 12, 1978, in Austin, Texas in the U.S.A. to Frances Victory and Pieter Meade Schenkkan. He is also known as Benjamin McKenzie, the grandson of Robert F. Schenkkan, who worked in the University of Texas in Austin. Ben is the nephew of
, Jr., who is also an actor and playwright and a winner of Pulitzer Prize. He studied at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and later attended Austin High School, where he became the defensive back and wide receiver in a football team of the school. Ben later studied at the University of Virginia, where his father and grandfather graduated. He took a major in Foreign Affairs and Economics.
He initially did some part-time jobs, and some acting works in L.A. in

In the year 2008, Ben made a solo performance and earned critical acclaim as Joe Bonham in the film version of the Off-Broadway play, Johnny Got His Gun, based on the novel of the same name, written by Dalton Trumbo.
