The founder and artistic director of Mad Cat Theatre Company, Paul Tei, was born and brought up in Hollywood, Florida. Paul returned to Miami after receiving his MFA(Masters in Fine Arts) in directing from De Paul University Theatre School, where he formed the Mad Cat Theatre Company. He has been the artistic director of the company since its start in the fall of the 2000s. He is currently a full-time instructor at the New York Film Academy. His BA in Theatre from Barry University helped him broaden his theatrical talents. It allowed him to pursue puppetry, sound, light, costuming, and set design.

Tei has long been a staple of South Florida theatre. He is the very definition of a local lad rising to stardom, having received national attention for his recurrent role on Burn Notice. Paul has worked professionally as an actor, director, writer, and producer in theatre, television, film, and commercials for over 25 years.
