Burn Notice is an American series by Matt Nix. The show is about a professional spy, Michael Westen, who got 'burned' or disavowed suddenly. He uses his special ops training to help others in need. He was discredited from his position without any procedure and wanted to find out who got him burned.
Throughout the show, his ex-girlfriend, Fiona, and trusted former FBI informer, Sam, helps him in helping people all over Miami. Michael would also piece together clues about the people who 'burned' him.
The show title, ‘Burn Notice’, refers to the burn notices given by intelligence or secret agencies to announce the expulsion of spies who are no longer reliable to agencies. After getting burned by the agency, their connection gets cut off, leaving them without any cash, influence, or help. So, after getting burned, Michael could not even leave his town without putting his life in danger.
The show has two narratives: one where he solves individual cases and another, where he follows the trail leading him to the people who burned him. The individual episodes focus on the evils he works for his clients, and it usually involves fighting off mobsters, gang members, murderers, rapists, kidnappers, etc.
Finally, when he meets Philip Cowan, the person responsible, Philip gets shot by a sniper after saying something vague, which made no sense to Michael.
