Usha Uthup was born on 7 November 1947 in a Tamil Brahmin family in Mumbai. She did her education from St.Agnes High School, Mumbai and she has sung in 15 Indian Languages and Various Foreign Languages. Her next door neighbours daughter Jamila, inspired her to learn Hindi which later helped her to create a brand of Indian Pop in 70s.

She explored Indian music to new height by singing the songs in her own style which later became Usha Uthup style. Started her career by singing in night club in Kolkata, Usha became the first Indian Pop singer. Seeing her performance in a five star hotel Shashi Kapoor offered her to sing in films.

In 1968, Usha Uthup sang English Pop song and interviewed by BBC Radio London. Uthup sang several song for music director R.D.Burman and Bappi Lahiri.

Rekha Bhardwaj is a dynamic and versatile Indian playback singer who can perform in different genres like Bollywood, Sufi, Folk and Classical. She married the Indian Director, Producer and Music Director Vishal Bharadwaj. Her unique style of singing makes her stand out of the crowd. Mahi Gill aka Mahie aka Mahie Gill aka Rimpy Kaur Gill is an Indian actress of Bollywood fame, earning her eminence in the Hindi movie of 2009, “Dev.D” that was directed by Anurag Kashyap. She has played the role of Parminder ‘Paro’, one of the two love-interests of the protagonist in the movie, and won the 2010 Critics Award - Female - Best Performance, at the Filmfare Awards ceremony. (The other love-interest, Chandramukhi - Chanda - Leni, played by Kalki Koechlin, earned the half French half Tamil girl, the Best Supporting Actress at the same Awards.) Shreya Ghoshal, one of the most famous singers in Bollywood today, was born on March 12th, 1984, in Berhampore, West Bengal. Her father Biswajit Ghoshal is an electrical engineer and mother Sharmistha Ghoshal is a postgraduate in literature. She started singing since the age of 4 when her mother taught her. She started her formal training in Hindustani classical Gharana of music when she was only six years old. She was trained for 18 months after which she continued her training in Mumbai with Late Mukta Bhideji. She completed her graduation in Arts with majors in English. Her first on-stage performance was at their club’s annual function. Harshdeep Kaur is an Indian playback singer who has been singing for Bollywood movies since 2003 and also a well known name in Sufi genre of songs. She rose to fame by appearing in reality musical programmed and even bagged the title ‘Sufi Ki Sultana’ form legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan for a program ‘ Lux Junoon – Kuch Kar Dikhaane Ka’ that was aired on NDTV Imagine in September 2008. She has also participated in ‘Home World Tour’ program organized by music maestro A R Rahman in 2010 and had toured all over USA, Canada, UK, South Africa. Vidya Balan is an award winning Bollywood actress who was born in Poothamkurussy, Puthur of Kerala. Her birthday is 1st of January in 1978. Her parents are Saraswathy and P. R Balan. Her elder sister is Priya Balan and her second cousin is Indian actress Priyamani. Ekta Kapoor; a legendry producer in Indian TV and film industry was born on 7 June 1975 in India. She is basically the creative director and Joint Managing Director of her production company Balaji Telefilms. She is the daughter of Shobha Kapoor and actor Jeetendra. Tusshar Kapoor, his brother is also working in Bollywood movies. She completed her early studies from Bombay Scottish School Mahim and went to college Mithibai.

Ms. Kapoor has produced many wonderful soap opera, unforgettable movies and long remembered tv series. Aruna Irani is an Indian actress who has acted in over 300 films, mostly doing supporting roles. She was born to a Parsi family on 18th August 1946 in Mumbai. Aruna has mixed origin of Irani Zoroastrian and Hindu background. She was the sister of famous filmmaker, Indra Kumar and actor, Adi Irani. She is married to film director, Kuku Kohli. Aruna Irani was first introduced in the film, Gunga Jumna in 1961. She was just 9 years old at the time when she played the role of Azra. 

Carlos Catalan is a British cinematographer. He has worked in many movies, documentaries, and advertisements. He debuted in the 2015 Hindi film Dil Dhadakne Do.  He has also collaborated with director Zoya Akhtar on other films Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Luck By Chance. He pursued a degree in cinematography from Escola Superior de Cinema I Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC) in Barcelona. He has won several awards for his work including the Silver Tadpole at Camerimage in 2001. He is known for his short film Winner. Carlos achieved outstanding achievement in cinematography. He got a Filmfare award for best cinematography.  

Shashank Tere is a well-known production designer and actor in the Bollywood industry. By his skills, he represented a whole new world for everyone, to which we can somehow relate. He is known for his works in many movies as the production designer like Dhadak, which came out in 2018 which was a tragic love story between two students from different castes addressing a long issue in our society.

Shafquat Amanat Ali Khan was born on February 26, 1965. He was a Muslim born in Lahore, Punjab. His parents are Ustad Amanat Ali Khan and Almas Amanat Ali Khan. He is from the ninth generation of Gharana Patiala. His elder brother is Asad Amanat Ali Khan. He completed his bachelor’s degree from Lahore’s Government University College. He then received his honor for music from the music society, from the government University College by Tariq Farani. He is known for his famous songs as a classical singer. He resides in the Lineage of Patiala Gharana. He had done several works among which some of the most important are Aankhon Ke Saagar, Mitwa, Khamaj and Ankhiyan. He had also sung several songs such as Phir Wohi Raastey which is known as Ramchand Pakistani.

Nakul Kamte is known for his handiwork on Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001). Rang De Basanti (2006) and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) are some of his other works. Nakul Kamte is one of the peaks influential and presented sound designers in the Indian Film Production.

Huzefa Lokhandwala is a very talented editor in Indian Film Industry, who started his career as a visual effects artist. He is the Co-founder and the Creative Director of advertising at Prime Focus. Huzefa has worked with almost every advertising company and advertising filmmaker in India. He is highly praised and widely known for his good work. He has edited the popular movie ‘Delhi Belly’ that won him the Colors Screen and Film fare Awards for best editing in 2012. Editing of Delhi Belly was like a fun puzzle game to him. He says, “It’s challenging but in the form of a puzzle game. More than that challenge, it was like having fun.

Born in the city of Mumbai to a family of Parsi religion, Rohinton Soli Screwvala is an Indian philanthropist, entrepreneur, CEO, and founder of UTV Group, which included Bloomberg UTV, UTV Software Communications, etc. Since school time Ronnie had an interest in films and theater. He also acted in some skits in Bombay theater like Alyque Padamsee and Pearl. But he did not like working for others, so his stage career ended as he wished to initiate his business. Ronnie started on a small scale in the year 1981.

Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, aka Akon, is a well-known American singer/rapper/lyricist/record producer and an actor as well. He was born on 16th of April 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri to Mor Thiam and Kine Gueye Thiam, a dancer. His dad being a well-known jazz percussionist, Akon mastered five instruments which include drums, guitar, as well as djembe. Dhilin Mehta is a film maker in India. He is the CEO of Ashtavinayak Cine Vision. Ashtavinayak Cine Vision has around 50-100 employees and generates revenue of about an average $17.5 million. Akshat Verma is the Indian actor and writer who made his place in the ‘fame’ of Film Industry because of the film Delhi Belly (2011). His first contribution in the Industry was the script writing of a movie called “The Ode” (2008). It was co-associated with Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla and produced by G.K Desai, Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla, Manu Gargi, Ratna Maity and Bharat S. Shah. Ram Sampath is an Indian music producer and composer. After a brief stint as a composer for an advertising agency in Mumbai, Ram Sampath went on to compose music albums before venturing into the Bollywood industry. Ram was born in and brought up in Mumbai. Although cultures divided his parents, they were brought together by their inclination for music which has been reflected in their celebrity son.

Irshad Kamil is an Indian lyricist and poet who came to prominence with his work in Bollywood movies. He was born in Punjab as a Punjabi Muslim on 5 September 1971. After completing his Diploma in Journalism from Punjab University, he also completed a Ph.D. in contemporary Hindi poetry and a Post Graduation in Hindi language; he chose journalism as his career and joined a newspaper ‘Tribune’ in Chandigarh and covered entertainment and educational news. During this period, he also interviewed actors like Pooja Bhatt and Manoj Bajpayee. He then worked even in a Hindi newspaper and was involved in desk jobs. However, right from childhood, he had a unique sense to understand his life’s decisions and knew well how he has to choose his career. Soon, he left his journalism job and then did his Ph.D. and was given the offer to teach. But his refusal to become a teacher proved a turning point in his life. He met producer and director Lekh Tandon, who came to Chandigarh to shoot for TV and was looking for a writer. On Tandon’s advice, he came to Mumbai and started writing for TV. Dissatisfied with his career in TV again, he left behind his journey as a writer and was a lookout for a job as a lyricist in the film industry. 

Sohail Sen is an Indian singer, musician and film composer who has mainly worked in Bollywood film industry. In 2008, he debuted as a film composer with the movie Sirf. The movie wasn't able to acquire large audiences and went unnoticed. He was born on June 24, 1984. He is born into a family of musicians and his entry into this industry is the fourth generation of his family to do so. His dad, Samir Sen was a music director and his grandfather was a singer. At the age of six, he started learning the instrument Tabla. He had composed his first music at the age of thirteen for the Telefilm Roshini. Kavita Krishnamurthy had provided the playback for the song.

Gulzar is the pen name of the author, poet and popular lyricist Sampooran Singh Karla. He was born on the 18th of August in 1934 in Dina, Jhelum district of British India to parents Makhan Singh Karla and Sujan Kaur. His career kicked off under the directors Bimal Roy and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. His songwriting career began with the movie Bandini, released 1963, for the tunes composed by music director Sachin Dev Burman. From then on, he went on to write the lyrics for many memorable songs of the Bollywood industry. He worked with magnanimous music directors like R. D. Burman, S. D. Burman, A. R. Rahman, Lakshmikant-Pyarelal, Madan Mohan, Rajesh Roshan and Anu Malik to name a few. The work of the trio Maniratnam, A. R .Rahman and Gulzar is much remembered in the industry. He has also given dialogues and screenplay for movies like Anand, Khamoshi, Saathiya, etc., He even tried his hand as a director through the years 1971 to 1999 during which he directed more than 20 films.

Niranjan Iyengar is an Indian screenwriter and lyricist. He was born in Anand, India. He mostly works with the director Karan Johar. He has written many screenplays for his films. Few of them are ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ in 2003, ‘My Name is Khan’ in 2010 and lyrics for Chammak Challo song from the film ‘Ra One’ - 2012. He is the author of the book ‘The Making of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.

Abhinay Deo is an Indian commercial director who later turned into a feature film director. He had no aspirations of become a star, all he wanted to do was present stories to the public. Deo says that his goal was never glamour, acting or even films. He considers himself to be a lucid storyteller.

Vishal Dadlani was the vocalist of Mumbai based electronic band Pentagram. He worked jointly with Imogen Heap for the song ‘Mind Without Fear’, for an episode of ‘The Dewarists’. Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarela l Ramprasad Sharma, popularly known as Laxmikant-Pyarelal in the music industry, were at the zenith of their profession during the 70s and 80s.
