Anjangadi is an island where there are no FM radio stations. Mathaai, an ex-armyman is a bachelor and has been working as a security guard. He is the one, who tunes the FM signals to the village and hence, he was fondly addressed as Maarconi Mathaai. Anna joins the bank as a cleaner, where Mathaai works. Mathaai and Anna started liking each other and Anna, who is much younger than Mathaai doesn’t even care about the age and starts loving him deeply. Vijay Sethupathi, the Tamil star who comes to a promotion for his film, speaks in an FM channel. While promoting the film, he gives advices to everyone and in that show, he comes to know about Mathaai and Anna. How and why did he meet them? Watch the film in theaters!
Jayaram performed as Maarconi Mathaai and impressed the audience. Anna has nothing big to do. Vijay Sethupathi plays himself in an extended cameo and he has done his job well, as ever. Jayaram’s chemistry with his co-stars is amazing.
Maarconi Mathaai is neither a regular story nor a special one. Yet, it has its own pluses and minuses. Some characters are not designed well, including that of Anna. Although Jayaram’s character has a good combination scenes with every character in the movie, not all the supporting characters are properly designed. Although Vijay Sethupathi’s role is down-to-earth and impressed by the love story of the lead pair, something seems to be missing. The film is projected to have come with a natural way of storytelling, where it is not actually. Jayaram’s role is also not new and he had played a lot of times as a bachelor. A lot of logical loopholes, including the FM Station setup, shows that the team hadn’t care about certain technicalities.
What’s Not There?
Although the film poses with a lot of logical loopholes, it has something to entertain the audiences. Maarconi Mathaai is definitely a one-time watch!
