Mallika Sukumaran is a yesteryear actress who debuted in 1974 in the movie Uttarayanam directed by G. Aravindan. She was born in 1954 in Haripad, Alappuzha district, Kerala. She married the late actor Sukumaran in the year 1979 and withdrew from the film industry to devoted her time for her family until her husband’s death in 1997.
She made a comeback with a K.K. Rajeev Teleserial Paithozhiyathe with notable actors like Thilakan and Jayabharathi. Her Eldest daughter-in-law Poornima is an actress and a Fashion Designer and her younger daughter-in-law Supriya worked as BBC correspondent from Mumbai. She has three grandchildren with whom she likes to spend most of her time. She was honored with Kerala state award for supporting actress in Swapanadanam in 1974.
