Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi was not born with silver spoon. Neither did he have a family background that had deep roots in cinema field. He was rejected even for the role of a junior artist. But it was his hard work and continuous struggle, that made him a star that he is today.

Radhakrishnan Parthiepan is a renowned actor, cinema producer, and director of Tamil origin. Born in a moderate family in Chennai, Parthiepan’s journey to success wasn’t an easy one. Reportedly, he was even rejected for films early due to his non-hero looks. He worked in many odd jobs, including a dubbing artist for which he used to get 6000 rupees per month. Parthiepan finally managed to assist the talented director K. Bhagayraj, following which he ventured into the South Indian Film industry with his directorial project Pudhiya Padhai, where he also played the lead. The film was a critical and as well as a commercial success. Following this, he went to star and direct many films. Major ones being Pondatti Thevai, Thalattu Padava, Tata Birla, Housefull, Ivan, Soori and many others. Parthiepan has often been credited for breaking the conventional settings and rules of commercial cinema. In this process, he has been awarded several accolades. His film Pudhiya Padhai was awarded the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Story Writer. Kalaingar Karunanidhi published this novel. He operates a philanthropic organization called R.Parthiepan Manithaneya Mandram. He has two daughters Keerthana, Abhinaya and a son Raaki. Keerthana, one of his first daughter, won a National Award for her excellent performance in the movie Kannathil Muthamittal. This 57-year-old actor also contributed immensely to the rehabilitation and in helping those affected by the Chennai floods that hit the city in 2015 causing great amounts of damage to people’s livelihoods.
