MLR Karthikeyan is no longer a budding singer in South Indian movies. He started his journey at the age of 14 by singing in school competitions and went on to become a part of many inter-school competitions. He also completed his BSC degree in Mathematics and Masters of Computer Application from Madras University.

He is the discovery of music composer Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) who gave him first break in the film ‘ Aaru’ for the peppy number ‘Freeya Vudu’ which was a group song sung by other singers too - Mukesh, Karthikeyan, Vadivelu, Jassie Gift, Grace Karunas.

After this song, he had no looking back. He started off pretty early as a singer in his life and he is still going so strong. To be able to do that retaining his individuality as singers and ensuring that he is still working in the industry is very difficult. For these simple reasons, he is really an amazing singer for the industry.

Later, he had sung in many languages such as Telugu, Kannada too. With Devi Sri Prasad, he also lent his voice for "Yenna Solla Pore' from the movie 'Venghai' which had Dhanush as lead star and the music in the movie was composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

This singer has sung maximum solo numbers in Tamil and Telugu movies which were either dubbed or remade in other languages even. This singer also sang for music directors like D. Imman and Deva too. Karthikeyan also sang maximum solo songs for D Imman.

Most notable duet numbers of Karthikeyan include the number ‘Vaada Vaada’ from 'Kaccheri Aarambam' (2010) which he sang along with Anitha Karthikeyan and composed by D. So far, he had sung nearly 75-77 songs. M. L. R. Karthikeyan received Filmfare best male vocal for "Pora Srimanthuda" from “ Srimanthudu” in 2016. Recently, ‘Tasakku Tasakku’ by Mukesh, MLR Karthikeyan and Guna for composer Sam CS from Album ' Vikram Vedha' is creating the real buzz in Chennai.

Anitha Karthikeyan

Born on December 13, Anitha Karthikeyan is a Tamil playback vocalist. She is the daughter of Mr. K. Venkatanarsimhan and Dr. V. Mathuram. She comes from a family of artists. She completed BSc Computer Science from Ethiraj College and got her post graduate degree from M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women. She likewise got prepared in classical, western under the direction of Augustin Paul from Trinity College of London and Hindustani music from Mrs. Megna Dandekar. In 2007, she made her debut in the movie Marudhamalai by D. Imman, the music director. Under his compositions, she got the chance to explore various genres. The melody 'Shokku Sundari' from movie Aindhaam Padai got her a decent acknowledgment in the music Industry. Her tune 'Vaada Payya' turned into an immense hit and got her more awards. In 2006, she won the label of "Viewer's Choice SUPER SINGER" in the 1st season of Airtel Super Singer directed by Vijay TV and for the last round of the show she gained votes more than 150,000.
