Anurag Kashyap is mostly known for Hindi movies like Black Friday, Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur etc. However, after multiple failures as a director, Kashyap decided to test his luck as an actor. After struggling for a while, Anurag struck gold with the revenge drama Maharaja, where he played the lead antagonist Selvam. The movie was one of the few saving graces for Tamil cinema.
