Balu Anand

Balu Anand is a well-known Indian actor and director, who has worked in the south Indian film industry. The actor-director has mainly contributed to the Tamil film industry. Many of his works are inspired by Malayalam cinema.

He first joined the Tamil movie industry as a director in the year 1985. His first movie was Naane Raja Naane Mandhiri. It couldn’t garner much appraise from the critics, but the music of the movie was widely appreciated. Famed music director Ilaiyaraaja gave its music. In 1988, he directed another Tamil movie Annanagar Mudhal Theru. It was a romantic comedy. It proved to be one of the most successful films by the director. The director forayed into acting with the Tamil film ‘Pistha’ in 1997. Balu had a small role in the movie. The movie was a huge hit at the box office. Pistha was followed by ‘Velai’ in 1998. Balu did the movie ‘Ajantha’ in 2014. It was shot in three languages with different star-cast- Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Balu was part of the Tamil version. In the same year, he also directed a movie after a long gap by the name Anandha Thollai. The movie was about the missing son of a royal family, his fight with the enemies and his love story.
