Shobana was a popular Tamil television actress, stand-up comedian and a host an anchor who died as she committed suicide 3 years back. Born, brought up and educated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu she belonged from a middle class traditional Tamil family and her parents worked in nationalized banks. Shobana from her childhood days had a passion for acting and also had a very good grip over Tamil and was able to speak Tamil very clearly and fluently. She frequently participated in debates, drama, and acting programmes and competitions. It is in one such performance, Shobana got noticed by the troupe members of cult and legendary Tamil stand-up comedian Vennira Aaadai Murthy and was offered to work with them. Shobana gladly accepted the offer and there was no looking back for her from there on. She successfully featured in many comic supporting roles in Tamil movies like-Chillonu Ora Kadhaal. At the age of 31, Shobana suddenly became ill with Chikunguniya and suffered from acute stomache. Unable to bear the pain and cope with her illness she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in the year 2011 and the Tamil industry lost yet another talented comedy serial artiste.
