Mohammad Ai is a Persian-Pakistani singer. His full name is Mohammad Ali Shekhi. Shekhi entered the musical world in the 1970s with his own written and composed songs. His songs mostly had a Persian touch in them. He lived in Pakistan for most of his life. His father was Iranian, and his mother was half-Iranian and half-Pashtun. Ali studied at the NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan, and graduated there in 1981. Shekhi received many national awards from the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). The song was live telecast as an introduction by the Karachi television station program “Naghma Zaar.” Then, his first song, “Mere Pyaar Ke Tu Sung Sung,” was composed by TV music composer Niaz Ahmed and producer Ghazanfar Ali. Blessed with a good, strong voice, trained in the basics of music by his ustad Habib Ahmed Khan and then Sohail Rana, Shehki soon gained public recognition. He lent his voice to Sehba Akhtar’s national song “Mein Bhee Pakistan Hoon Tu Bhee Pakistan Hai,” a big hit of the time, and “Aye Watan Tere Betay Hain” by music composer Sohail Rana. Mohammad Ali worked as an actor in nine films. Some of they were Dekh Tamasha, Choron Ka Badshah, Son of Andata, Zor Awar, Guide, etc.
