The founder of Dharma Production, Yash Johar was born on 6 September 1929 in Amritsar.    He was married to Hiroo Johar and is the father of the well known Bollywood director and producer Karan Johar. This legend started his career with Sunil Dutt’s production house “Ajanta House” in 1952 and since then, he has delivered one hit film after another. His name has been associated with famous films like ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’ which released in 1963 and ‘Ye Raste hai Pyaar Ke’ in which the famous Sunil Dutt performed as an actor. His banner, ’Dharma Production’ was launched in 1976. The first film produced under this banner was Dostana which became an instant hit. Some of his best movies in 1980’s and 1990’s were Agneepath, Gumrah and Duplicate. With the release of such great movie that gained major appreciation by Indian audience, his production house became one of the biggest banners in Bollywood. This production house reached new heights from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, a movie released in 1998. This film won lots of awards, including ‘The Best Film’ at Annual Screen Awards.
