One of the famous playback singers of Indian Film Industry, who has sung more than 25,000 songs in more than 34 languages. He was born on 1 Dec, 1955 at Bhardaha Village in Saptari District, Nepal. He studied at P.B School, Rajbiraj (Nepal) upto class 10th and intermediate from Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus. Udit passed his initial life with struggles and got a chance to sing in Nepali Radio, meanwhile he also sang songs in Maithli, Bhojpuri and Nepali in 70s. After singing for Radio Nepal, He moved to Bombay on music scholarship to get training in classical music from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan . He got his first chance to sing for a movie Unees Bees in 1980 , composed by . His dream came true when he also sang a song with his ideal Mohd Rafi Saheb. But his materialistic struggle got over when he sang famous song’ Papa Kehte Hain’ from the movie Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’ in 1988. This is turning point of Udit’s Life as he became the star in Indian Music. His melodious voice became every hero’s voice. After huge success of this movie Udit wrote new chapter of success through songs of movies Jo Jeeta wahi Sikandar but the song ‘ Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna’ gave Udit first filmfare award for best song. He has also sang songs in Oriya, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, etc. He has worked with all leading music composers of film industry. Apart from this , He was also among the panel of judges in Indian Idol 3and Waar Pariwaar (Sony TV). He married twice and His Second Wife is a Nepali a Playback Singer who sung for an album “”with Udit Narayan. His son also started his career in Nepali films as a child artist before coming in Hindi films.
