The promotional campaign for Sunny Deol’s ‘JAAT’ will begin with a refreshing twist!
According to the recent reports, the re-release date for one of the Sunny Deol classics has been confirmed. Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Ghatak’ will re-release in cinemas on March 21, nearly three decades after its original release.
Starring Sunny Deol, Amrish Puri, and Danny Denzongpa in the lead roles, ‘Ghatak’ is the journey of Kashinath, a budding wrestler who visits Mumbai along with his aged father Shambhu Nath, who is dying of cancer. He crosses path with a local goon Katya, who turns out to be way deadlier than expected. The movie was a huge financial success, and developed into a cult classic, thanks to the acting of both Sunny Deol and Amrish Puri. This was also the last theatrical release for Meenakshi Sheshadri.
Interestingly, not many know that Sunny Deol was NOT the original choice for Kashinath. Rajkumar Santoshi wanted Kamal Haasan in the lead, and preparations were almost confirmed. However, Kamal Haasan walked out of the project, possibly due to his commitment towards the S. Shankar classic ‘Indian’, and ultimately Sunny Deol was invited on board. The rest, as they say, is history!
