Mary was his mother’s name and she was a piano teacher. She taught at Pennfield School, which is in Portsmouth in Rhode Island. His father’s name was Dr. Thomas Charles Day, who was a professor of music history. He taught in the Salve Regina University, which was in Newport in Rhode Island. Rhode Island is where he spent his childhood, but he attended 2 schools in Portsmouth. This was Pennfield School, and then Portsmouth Abbey School. He was then enrolled in Merrimack College, which is situated in North Andover, in Massachusetts. He used to play the shortstop for their college baseball team. His acting career started budding there. He demonstrated his acting skills by participating in the Williamstown Theater Festival. This changed his life and made him explore his career in the film industry by grabbing a small role as a mailman in a TV show called Mary and Rhoda.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – The First Breakthrough Of His Career

After doing a small role in Mary and Rhoda, Charlie Day went on to grab another role in a TV show called It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in 2005. Although the first season was able to capture some buzz among the audience, the second season was a huge success due to Danny DeVito’s appearance in the show. The rating of this show eventually boosted up, and literally maintained the success rate until the end of the season. Charles Day not only acted in this show, but he also served as a writer, co-producer, and even wrote some music for it, which was telecasted occasionally. He is also a musicologist and loves classical music.

Charles Day met his future wife, Elizabeth Ellis, on the sets of Reno 911. Actually, she was casted for the role of a waitress in his successful TV show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The couple got married in 2006 and had a son (Ryan Wallace) in 2011.
