Oksana Grigorieva

Oksana Petrovna Grigorieva is a Russian-American singer, pianist and song-writer. She was born on 23rd February 1970 in Saransk, Mordovia, USSR and raised in Ukraine and Russia. She is known for her song Un Dia Liegara and her album Beautiful Heartache. Grigorieva is the daughter of Pter Chernukha and Ludmilla Chernukha-Gregorieva. She married and divorced twice to Igor Baranov from 1989 to 1989 and artist Nicholas Rowland from 1992 to 1994. Grigorieva started learning the piano from her mother at the age of three. In the 1980’s, she joined a music school before joining a conservatory in Kazan. When she was 20 years old, she moved to London where she joined the Royal College of Music. She also did odd-jobs to support herself before becoming a model when Royal photographer Patrick Anson spotted her. She appeared in many magazines and modeled for the 1993 royal calendar where she wore the queen’s coat and a dress which was initially created for Princess Diana. In 1995, she worked under Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov as an ad hoc interpreter at the London Film Festival where she met Dalton.

They stayed in London before moving to the US with their son. In 1997 she starred in A to Z. In the US the couple separated after which Grigorieva settled in Los Angeles with her son. In 2002, she composed music for a short film Flower Boy. Her big break came when she wrote Un Dia Llegara for Josh Groban’s 2006 album “Awake”. The song become a hit. She met Mel Gibson in 2007 while performing at a restaurant. In 2008, Grigorieva joined Gibson’s record label Icon Records which released her 2009 album Beautiful Heartache.

The album received critical acclaim. She made a cameo appearance in Gibson’s movie “Edge of Darkness” where she also performed Say My Name from Beautiful Heartache. Grigorieva separated from Gibson in April 2010 in what became a highly publicized legal proceeding. She appeared twice on Entertainment Tonight on 30th July 2010 and 17th August 2010. She appeared on the Larry King Live in 2010, Q N’ A with Mikki and Shay in 2014 and On Point Beauties in 2015. She hosted the Mali beauties reality show. She appeared in an archive footage in television documentary TIME Presents: Celebrities On Trial in 2017.
