Al Martino was born on 7th October 1927 and he died on 13th October 2009. Al Martino’s original name or birth name was Jasper Cini. Al Martino was a great singer. Al Martino is said to be one of the great Italian American Pop Crooners. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

His parents immigrated from Abruzzo, Italy, who ran a construction business and Al Martino worked as a bricklayer alongside his brother. Al Martino always wanted to become a singer. By seeing the success of a family friend by changing his name, he also decided to change his name from Jasper Cini to Al Martino and, he began singing in Night Clubs.

He went to New York City in 1948 and recorded some songs which made him win the first place on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts in 1952. He also got a contract for recording song with the Philadelphia record level where he recorded the song “Here in my Heart” which received a lot of appraisals and was at no.1 for three weeks on the US Pop Charts in June 1952. It was also no.1 in the UK Singles Charts. It got published by New Musical Express on 14th November 1952, which put his name into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The song became very successful which led to the release of three more songs- “Take My Heart” and “ Rachel Bio coming soon... >> Read More... ” and “When You Are Mine” in 1953. Al Martino sang great songs like “I Love You Because” and “Painted, Tainted Rose” and “Love Notes” in 1963. In 1964, he sang “A Merry Christmas” and “Living a Lie” and “My Cherie”. In 1967, he sang melodious songs like “This Love for you” and “Daddy’s Little Girl” and “Mary in the Morning”. In 1968, he sang “Love is Blue” and “This is Al Martino”.

However, he also worked as an actor in the films The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather III (1990).Due to mobs, he was forced to leave the US army and Al Martino’s role in the movie The Godfather has been achieved due to his mob-related background. Al Martino had to hear all his life that his success was due to the mob-related background and the roles he got was due to his connections to the mob bosses. Al Martino has been honored at the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2009.

Al Martino was married to Judith Martino and had three children named Alison Martino, Alfred Cini and Alana Cini. Al Martino family used to live in Cherry Hill Estates, New Jersey. Al Martino died from a heart attack on 13th October 2009, just six days after his birthday at the age of 82. He died in his childhood home in Springfield, Pennsylvania. Al Martino is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
