Rebecca Black

Rebecca Renee Black, the 18-year-old singer is famous for her music video “Friday”. Rebecca was born at Irvine in California to John Jeffery Black and Georgina Marquez Kelly. She initially started her schooling in a private school, and then moved to a public school where she joined the musical theatre program and later dropped out of school to attend home tutoring.

In 2010, when Black was 13, her classmate who was a music-video client of ARK Music Factory told her about the company. Black’s mother wanted to produce the first ever musical video of Black for which she paid $4000. Black’s debut musical, “Friday” was uploaded to YouTube on February, 2011, and became viral on social media by March. The ARK Music Factory released the album on March 14, 2011. The album made a sale of 40,000 and received many positive and negative criticisms from all over the world.

Talking about the success of “Friday”, Black has said that she did not make the song with any intent yet the song was doing something good in her life. Black even received death threats and rumors were spread that Black is pregnant after the success of “Friday”. Later in 2011, Black was also seen in Katy Perry’s single “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)”. By June 2011, the video of Friday was removed from YouTube by the ARK Music factory due to legal dispute between the company and Black. The video was again uploaded on September 16, 2011 on Black’s official channel on YouTube

. Later, Black started her own record label, “RB Records”. She released her own music videos, “My Moment”, “Person of Interest”, “Sing It” and “In Your Words”. She then collaborated with Dave Days to produce the sequel to her Friday and the musical was named “Saturday”.
