Ian Brennan English Actor

Ian Brennan

Ian Brennan was born to Irish Catholic parents on April 23, 1978, in Mount Prospect, Illinois, United States. His father, John Brennan was a Paulist priest. Charman Bren-nan is the mother of Ian Brennan. He has a sister named Sarah. Sarah is one among the founders of Amandla charter school in Chicago. During the mid-1990s, Ian Brennan had studied four years in Mount Prospect, a school in Illinois. He was a member of the school choir which he found dull and unenjoyable. Jennifer Morrison, the renowned American actress, was his school friend. Brennan always dreamt of being an actor. His high school musical director, John Marquette, was the show choir director. Because of this reason, he joined the choir. He had an idea that this might help him in the musical productions. Brennan believes that John Marquette is the man behind him. He has inspired him to become an actor and act. After this, Brennan went to Loyola University in Chicago for his further studies. He graduated in 2000 from Loyola University. Meanwhile, he kept alive his acting in Chicago while studying at the Second City training centre. Before shifting to New York City for continuing his acting career, Brennan had worked with Steppenwolf and Goodman theatres. He has performed many off-broadway plays at the Playwrights Horizons, Vineyard, and MCC theatres. He describes his early writing experience as terrible. It remained limited to a few sketch pieces in high school and college plays. In 2005, Ian was a New York based actor. He decided to write a screenplay about a high school glee club. The genre of the play was mainly comedy. Although he was not a trained writer, gradually he came up with a final draft. The story was about the glee club of the high school of which Brennan himself was a member. The choir teacher from the high school, John Marquette, had inspired him to write this story. Initially, he found it hard to sell it as a film to producers. Later on, Ryan Murphy, who was very popular at that time for Nip/Tuck, liked the idea of Brennan. Then, along with nip/tuck writer, Brad Falchuk, Ryan decided to convert Brennan’s idea into a tv show. And this is how the tv show Glee made a debut in the year 2009 after the show American Idol. It soon became one of the most buzzed-about tv shows and started gaining high ratings. This success was a huge one for Brennan because transforming an idea into a whole tv show with just three men was a big task. Today, Brennan is not only a writer and an actor but a producer and director too. He has appeared in many shows on the television. Some of them include Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2007), New Amsterdam (2008), CSI: NY (2007) and Early Edition (2000). He has done films like Save The Last Dance 2, Flourish and Staten Island. In theatre, he has been a part of Finian’s Rainbow, Saturday Night and The Man in the White Suit. In Glee, he played the character of Svengoobles, the vampire, who was a judge at Regionals, during the three episode season, On My Way. Brennan has written Cooties, which was a 2014 horror-comedy film. It starred Alison Pill, Rainn Wilson, Elijah Wood, Jorge Garcia, and Jack McBrayer. He is also a writer and director of the horror-comedy tv series, Scream Queens. In 1999, he had been nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award for Actor in a Supporting Role in the Musical "Finian's Rainbow.” The event had been organized at the Marriott Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. Apart from this, he had also been nominated in the Writer Guild of America awards for the film, Glee, with nominations in the Best New Series categories and Best Comedy Series.
