Aline Brosh McKenna is an American screenplay writer and producer of French origin. She was born on 2nd August 1967. She is known for the Hollywood film The Devil Wears Prada and TV series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Aline is the daughter of an Israeli-American engineer and a French midwife. She has a husband and two children. She was born in France and brought up in New Jersey in the US. She studied at the Saddle River Day School in Saddle River. She wrote a book called A Coed’s Companion – Everything A Smart Woman Needs To Know About College with co-author Stacie Lipp, which was published by Pocket Books on 1st September 1990.
She also did a screenwriting course for six weeks at the New York University where she wrote her first script. Her first script got her an agent after which she moved to Los Angeles and wrote more scripts. In 1995, Aline made her debut in television with the episode Young Americans in the series All-American Girl. She made her Hollywood debut in 1999 with the movie Three To Tango as a co-writer of the screenplay. She wrote for a short television movie Drive which released on 6th May 2006. Her latest project is a live-action film called Cruella, based on the exploits of Cruella, the antagonist of 101 Dalmatians. The film is set to release in 2018. Aline won the Women Film Critics Circle Award under the Best Woman Storyteller category for the movie The Devil Wears Prada in 2006. She was nominated for Alliance of Women Film Journalists for the Best Screenplay Written by a Woman in 2006, Writer’s Guild of America for the Best Adapted Screenplay in 2007, USC Scripter Award in 2007 and BAFTA Film Award for the Best Adapted Screenplay in 2007 for the same film. Aline also won the Gotham Independent Film Award in the Breakthrough Series – Long Form Category for the series Crazy Ex-girlfriend in 2016.
