Marc Baschet is a French producer and cinematographer. He has dedicated over 23 years of his life to the film industry and has had over 17 movies and shows to his credit. He is well-known for his Oscar-winning film “No Man’s Land”. He was the co-producer in his first film in 1994, a Macedonian film “Before The Rain” which was a love story set against the background of the political turbulence in Macedonia. The film was nominated for the Academy Awards under the category of ‘The Best Foreign Language Film’.

It was much-appreciated film and, it made Marc a well-known figure. He continued to release box-office hits like “Lifestyle” (1998) and “No Man’s Land” (2001). The film bagged a number of reputed awards like the Oscars (Best Foreign Language Film), Golden Globes (Best Foreign Language Film) and Cannes (Best Screenplay). After gaining fame in “No Man’s Land”, Marc produced a number of films like “The Monkey”, “The Doors Of Glory”, (both in 2001) “The Heaven” (2002) and “The Hell” (2005). He had a cameo as a homeless man in the 2006 movie “Dobermann”. He visited India for the first time in 2012 and said that it was like a dream that had been forged in reality with his trip. He had always been fascinated by the Bollywood industry. On the same visit, he confessed his willingness to work with the Indian film industry.

During this phase, talks for the movie “Tigers” (initially titled “White Lies”) had already started, and he had roped in the writer and director Danis Tanovic, who he had worked with him in “No Man’s Land.” He envisioned yet another political drama set for an International release. He was so impressed with the technical skills of Indian filmmakers that he wanted to sign them for his flick. He found India as a unique shooting location and wanted to shoot a movie that captured the soul and enthusiasm of Indians.

The film was a postal romance and was received exceptionally well worldwide. Marc has made appearances at a number of Film Festivals in India and has held Masterclass to brief budding filmmakers the nuances of independent film distribution at an Internation level.

His other projects “Family Album” and “Centaur” are slated to release sometime in 2017. Marc wishes to continue his tryst with India and hopes to work more with Bollywood in the future. He also plans on visiting India often given that he is so fond of the public here.
