Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur was born on 13th March 1982 in Pilani, Rajasthan, as the daughter of an Indian Army officer. She spent her early childhood hopping from cities to cities due to her father’s job until she lost her father to a terrorist attack in Kashmir in 1994. Her family moved to Delhi after her father’s death and she completed her schooling and college in Delhi itself. 

She moved to Mumbai after completing her college education to find an opportunity in the acting career. She started off with local theatre works and was also a model for print media advertisements then. Her famous plays include ‘Baghdad Wedding’ and ‘All About Women And Red Sparrow’. Even though she had done a role in the 2006 English film ‘One Night With The King’, her Bollywood break came only six years later with the Anurag Kahsyap movie ‘ Peddlers’ in 2012. The movie was critically acclaimed and was staged at the prestigious Cannes festival, and Nimrat Kaur’s acting got good appreciation.

Her next Bollywood film ‘Lunchbox’, which was released in 2013, was a huge success both critically and commercially and she got international recognition for her portrayal of the lonely wife character in the movie. This movie, which told the story of a lonely Indian wife’s friendship with a stranger over letters, was staged in Cannes film festival. Besides movies, she has also endorsed with a few brands and she is the famous ‘Cadbury’ girl from the super hit Cadbury Diary Milk ad. She is presently working with Akshay Kumar on the movie ‘ Airlift’, which is scheduled to be released on early 2016.

Her career took a flashy turn when she appeared on the reality TV show "Mtv Splitsvilla 3". Later on, she headed towards Mumbai. The dazzling Punjabi girl soon appeared on “The Buddy Project” on Channel V. Her carrer kickstarted soon after she appeared in Jugni Furr, a video made by Jasmeet in 2012 in which Niharika is seen as a Punjabi girl with high spirits. This video was a big hit and paved her way in the movies. Niharika made her first film debut in 2013 in the Punjabi movie “Oye Hoye Pyar Ho Gaya”. She was seen opposite to the singer Sharry Mann, directed by Aditya Sood. The film bagged her the title of romantic actor. After that, the dazzling actress was welcomed in Kollywood. She was featured in a Romantic Comedy film written by ‘Rajmohan’. The movie “Vanavarayan Vallavarayan” casting her was released in 2014. Niharika considered this movie to be stepping stone towards success. When asked about this movie, she happened to be really excited and said that she had witnessed many girls entering Bollywood through the Tamil Films and they have climbed great heights in the Industry. She hoped to follow the footsteps of those shining artists by doing quality work in Tamil Films. It was also speculated that she might appear in one of the shows of Rashmi Productions but later on, things did not turn up in her favor.
