Kathy Najimy is an American actress, comedian and voice actor born to Samia and Fred Najimy. She did her education in Crawford High School and then began her career in acting during the 1990s. At the start, it was obvious that she landed only minor roles and in 1992, she got into a major role in comedy series Sister Act for which she won American Comedy Award for Funniest Supporting Actress. She reappeared for the same in 1993 for Sister Act 2.

For her 18 years of AIDS activism, she was honored with L.A Shanti’s Founder Award and also LA Gay and Lesbian Center’s Distinguished Achievement Award. Apart from being a feminist, this makes easy for us to jump into conclusion about her activist movements as well that also includes animal rights, women’s and girl’s rights. Some of the organizations she had contributed are NYClass, APLA, GLAAD, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, AMFAR. Her current involvement is the movement she is supporting that aims in abolishing the New York City carriage horses.
