Stellan John Skarsgard is an art film Swedish actor and has acted in both British and American movies. He made his debut at the age of 21 and had grabbed offers in TV series and even acted in Swedish films too. Stellan Skarsgard is an actor known to English-speaking audiences for his roles in films such as 'Good Will Hunting'. Stellan Skarsgard played the role of Swedish World War II diplomat Raoul Wallenberg in a film titled 'Good Evening, Mr. Wallenberg' (1990) and won critical applause. In the year 1973, the actor acted in a movie 'Anita: Swedish Nymphet' which was an erotic film starring Christina Lindberg and Stellan Skarsgard.

Skarsgard was associated with Danish Director Lars’ film which was critically acclaimed and even won many awards in international film festival. Stellan acted in a miniseries ‘The Kingdom' created by Lars Von Trier in 1994. Later on, he continuously was featured in five movies such as ‘Breaking the Waves' (1996) which was the first film in Trier's Golden Heart Trilogy. In the year 2003, he acted again in Tiers’s best experimental film 'Dogville' which had only a limited release. The actor also was featured in another art and experimental film 'Melancholia’ (2011) which was screened at the Cannes Film festival and the lead actresses Kirsten Dunst received the best actress award in the Cannes Film festival.

Stellan was also associated with another Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland and acted in movies like ‘Zero Kelvin’ (1995) and 'A Somewhat Gentle Man' (2010). This film 'A Somewhat Gentle Man' was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film festival. In 1997, he acted in a powerful role of an investigating officer in ‘Insomnia’ who shoots his partner and represents his guilt for the crime throughout the movie. Stellan is best known to the world audience for playing a lead role in the fourth installment of The Exorcist Series titled 'Exorcist: The Beginning' (2004) which was directed by Renny Harlin. He married My Skarsgard, an actress, in April 1975 and divorced her in 2007 after having six children. Later he married a model Megan Everett in January 2009. The couple has two sons out of this marriage. Stellan was born on 13 June 1951 in Sweden.
