Matthew Langford Perry, or popularly known by all as ‘Chandler Bing’, is the son of the legendary American actor/ musician, John Bennett Perry. Needless to say, like father like son, Matthew also turned to the endless opportunities of show business, just like his father. This American – Canadian actor was born on 15 August of 1969.

He started appearing on screen amusing his viewers from an early age. He has done many straightforward and small roles before he stumbled upon the all-time favorite NBC show “Friends” in this sitcom, Matthew gave life to the character of the witty ‘Chandler Bing’.

All lovingly accepted this character and still continues to bring a smile upon anyone who sees the show. Apart from making him highly recognized and fruitful, the show also brought up several awards. Matthew won the Screen Actors Guild Award, TV Guide Award and the Teen Choice Award for his appearance as ‘Chandler Bing’.

Matthew had kicked off his acting career by doing a small scene in the TV series “240 Robert” which was aired in the year 1979. And in the year 1988, he did his first movie “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon”. He played the role of ‘Fred Roberts’.

Although he is popularly recognized for the role of ‘Chandler Bing,” he has done a many number of shows and films. The shows “The Odd Couple”, “The Ron Clark Show “, “Mr. Sunshine” etc. he has also done a countless number of movies such as “17 Again”, “Fools Rush In”, “The Whole Nine Yards”, etc.

He has also done the voice for a video game which was released in the year 2010 named “Fall Out: New Vegas”. He did the voice for the character ‘Benny’. Matthew has also been seen to be the celebrity spokesperson for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals.

He was born Matthew Langford Perry on 19 August 1969 in Massachusetts. He grew up in Ottawa where he developed a passion for tennis. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 15 when he started pursuing acting.

His film debut was in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon (1988) where he played a supporting character. He intended to join the University of Southern California when he was offered the leading role in the television series Second Chance. He later appeared in Empty Nest (1989), Growing Pains (1989); She’s Out of Control (1989), Sydney (1990), Call Me Anna (1990), Beverly Hills 90210 (1991), Home Free (1993) and L.A.X. 2194 (1994).

In 1994, he starred as Chandler Bing in the television sitcom Friends. The show was hugely popular and gained him, as well as the other actors, worldwide recognition. Friends ran for a decade and became one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. Matthew Perry’s character Chandler Bing is known for his witty jokes and sarcastic comments. Of all the six lead actors, he is the youngest. The makers often took his suggestions for the gags and jokes in the show. His father John-Bennett Perry made a guest appearance in one of the episodes. Friends earned him an Emmy nomination in 2002, along with his co-star Matt LeBlanc.

Simultaneously, he also starred in movies like Fools Rush In (1997), Almost Heroes (1998), Three to Tango (1999) and The Whole Nine Yards (2000) which later spawned the sequel The Whole Ten Yards (2004).
Post Friends, he worked in an episode of the Scrubs (2004) and starred in movies like The Ron Clark Story (2006) and Numb (2007), Birds of America (2008). He also appeared in the series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and the movie 17 Again (2009).
Matthew Perry holds dual citizenship in American and Canada. He lives in Los Angeles.
