David Koechner is also known as David Michael Koechner, is an American Comedian and an actor, known especially for his role Champ Kind in the movie Anchorman. Koechner was born on August 24, 1962, in Tipton, Missouri. His father’s name was Cecil Stephen Koechner and Margaret Ann. He is from English, German and Irish descent. He attended Benedictine College where he studied Political Science. He later went to the University of Missouri. After completing his graduation, Koechner got interested in acting and went to ImprovOlympic, for studying improvisational comedy. He then decided to take up acting as a profession. In ImprovOlympic, he was guided by his instructor Del Close. After graduating in Chicago in the year 1994, Koechner joined The Second City comedy troupe in Chicago. . After that, he appeared in side roles in many movies which include Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged, Wag the Dog and Man on the Moon. While working on Saturday Night Live, he befriended David ‘Grubber’ Allen and . Koechner later performed at The Naked Trucker and T-Bones Show. Koechner worked in a lot of skits, some of which are Bill Brasky, opposite Mark McKinney, Gary MacDonald, Get Off the Shed and much more. Both Koechner and Allen became a hit duo and were invited to open for Tenacious D in the year 2007. In the year 2004, he starred in the Anchorman where he played the role of Champ Kind. The movie was a great hit, and Koechner eventually became the king of comic roles. After that, he appeared in more supporting roles than ever. He played crucial roles in many high-profile comedy movies like
for Smoking, Waiting, Talladega Nights,The Goods:Live Hard,Sell Hard, etc. In 2007, he played the lead role in the movie The Comebacks. His acting skills in the movie were much appreciated by the critics. He returned as Champ Kind in the movie Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues in the year 2013. Koechner is currently working in comedy series on Comedy Central named Another Period. Koechner and his wife have five children, and they reside in Los Angeles.
