Lisa Cholodenko is an American film and television director and screenwriter. Her birth date is June 5, 1964, in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Her parent's name is Paul and Maria Cholodenko. They are Jews. She has two sisters named Karen Kardan and Laura Cholodenko.
She was a student at San Francisco State University where she studied ethnicity and women's studies. She then travelled to the India and Nepal, finally settling in Jerusalem. She stayed there for nearly a year and a half. In 1992, she took admission in Columbia University School of the Arts to do Master of Fine Arts in screenwriting.
Her first job in Hollywood was as Boyz n the Hood's apprentice editor. All her the short films that she wrote and directed have traveled to several international film festivals. They have won the Channel 4 TX, a British Film Institute prize, Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, and National Society of Film Critics Award.
After the success of her initial work, she then shifted to Los Angeles permanently for more work. Currently, she resides in Beachwood Canyon. Her movie The Kids Are All Right, which she created with Stuart Blumberg, a fellow screenwriter whom she met in a sperm donor facility that she had visited for her reasons, is her most successful projects.
Its budget was $3.5 million, and Focus Features was the distributor. It took her five years to make it ready for a global release.

She dated Wendy Melvoin, a musician, and gave birth to a son named Calder. Lisa conceived him with the help of a sperm donor.
