Six Feet Under is an American comedy-drama television series created and produced by Alan Ball. The English medium TV show premiered on HBO on June 3, 2001. Its entire run spanned five seasons and sixty-three episodes finally ending on August 21, 2005. Each episode had a runtime of 46-62 minutes with its series finale a 72-minute special.
At a basic level, the show draws upon the conventional family dynamic of the Fisher family who runs a mortuary in Los Angeles, showing the various interpersonal relationships, religious contrasts, and infidelity. However, the show is distinct in its discussions of death at personal and philosophical levels. Six Feet Under was received to critical acclaim.
It garnered 23 nominations in 2002 at the Primetime Emmy Awards for it's premiering season and went on to be nominated in multiple categories again in 2003, 2005 and 2006. And or the Golden Globe Awards, the series won for Best Drama Series in 2001 and received nominations in 2002 and 2003.
