He was born to Louis and Elsie Castellaneta on October 29, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, the U.S. Dan graduated from Northern Illinois University. He had a keen interest in acting which led him to join acting classes at 16. Castellaneta is married to Deb Lacuesta, the writer of the Simpsons. Aside from voicing Homer Simpson, he has also voiced other characters like Abraham Simpson, Abe, Barney Gumble, Krusty The Clown, Groundskeeper Willie, and Sideshow Mel from the show. He has also written some episodes of The Simpsons with his wife. Castellaneta has also voiced characters from other shows like Aladdin (1994), ALF (1996), Stargate SG-1 (1997), Futurama( 2003), War of the Roses (1989), Super Mario Bros (1993), Back to the Future: The Animated Series (1991), etc.
He also wrote/composed songs like Never stop the Simpsons and Dancing Worker's Song and released two albums named, Two Lips (2000) and I Am Not Homer (2002). His voice acting as Homer Simpson became so popular that he was featured in other Tv shows like Duckman and Family Guy. Castellaneta has won seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performance in The Simpsons (1992, 1993, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015), Annie Award for Outstanding Voice Acting by Male Performer, Young Artist Award for Most Popular Mom and Pop in a Television series, and a WGA Award for animation.
