After a long gap, Prashanth is seen on the big screen with Saahasam. Let’s see whether this film works wonders for him.

Plot

Prashanth prefers leading a lavish lifestyle. He doesn’t go for the monotonous jobs but want to become rich overnight through cricket betting. And Prasanth happens to bounce upon the typical evil villain of Kollywood, while on the verge of cricket betting. Eventually, Prashanth gets associated with the villain gang and eventually gets into trouble. How he comes out of the problem? Watch the movie to know.

Star Performances

It is obvious that Prashanth has relied on this movie to a great extent; in the process, he has done a convincing job. His adeptness in the stunt scenes deserves special mention. Debutante Amanda is just ok in her role. Nassar, as usual, has done his role with conviction. Kota Srinivasa Rao does full justice to his role. Thambi Ramaiah and M S Bhaskar take care of the comedy department while Nargis Fakhri does an item number.

Analysis

Saahasam is produced and written by Prashanth’s father, Thiagarajan. This directorial venture of debutante Arun Raj Varma is the remake of the 2012 Allu Arjun starrer Telugu movie Julai. Julai proved to be a hit in the box office.

What’s there?

  • The dialogues are penned nicely.
  • Values that we often forget are enunciated in the film.
  • Thaman’s music is commendable, and his BGM gels well with the mood of the film.
  • Editing of Zashi Omer is crisp.
  • The cinematography of Shaji Kumar is one of the highlights of the movie.

What’s not there?

  • The love element is not appealing. It seems dated.
  • The movie sometimes goes along the predictable lines.
  • Comedy element in the film is not up to the mark, in spite of an ensemble of comedians.
  • The songs are just added for a colorful treat. Otherwise, they seem to be unwanted.

Verdict

Saahasam will manage to entertain the regular movie-goer.
