Madhan Karky

Madhan Karky Vairamuthu was born on March 10, 1980. He lives in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his education from College of Engineering, Guindy and University of Queensland. He is an Indian lyricist, software engineer, a professor, research associate, and a film dialogue writer. His parents are Vairamuthu and Ponmani; his father is a poet and a lyricist.

He is their eldest son. In 2001 at the college of engineering, Guindy he completed his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Further in the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia he completed his Post Graduation and Ph.D. in information technology in 2004. In 2010 he became a lyricist for the science fiction film Enthiran. For this film, he wrote the song "Irumbile Oru Irudhaiyam." He also assisted the director S. Shankar in writing dialogues for the same film, especially with technical terminology.

He wrote the song “Ododi Poren” and became his first release for the Kanden Kadhalai (2009). He had been awarded for the Best Find of the Year in Vijay Awards for his work in Enthiran. In 2010 he was nominated for five categories and won 4 awards namely best upcoming lyricist from Mirchi Music Awards South and V4 awards for the same category, the best find of the year from Vijay awards and top 10 Nambikaigal from Vikatan Awards. In 2011 he was nominated for 11 categories and won 8 awards from Big Tamil Rising Awards, Vijay Awards, Vijay Music Awards, Mirchi Music Awards and so on. In 2015 he was nominated for the song Pookkalae Sattru Oyivedungal of the movie ‘I’ and won the award for Best Lyricist from Edison Awards.

In 2011 films he worked as a lyricist. Enamo Aedho was the song of KO’s soundtrack which became very popular for its lyrics. High budget films had included in his work like A. R. Murugadoss's 7aam Arivu. For this film, he wrote the song in the Chinese language. He has also written a song in Portuguese. He worked on dialogues for the film Nanban and also wrote lyrics for a duet song in 15 languages.
