Nalini Nair

Nalini or Rani in real life is a South Indian actress, comedian and producer who became popular during the 80’s. She was born on June 24, 1962 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Nalini got married to Tamil film actor, Ramarajan in year 1987, but they got divorced later in the year 2000. They have twin children, namely Aruna and Arun who were born in year 1988.

After her divorce with Ramarajan, she became active in doing Tamil television serials. She acted as a mother-in-law in popular serials like Idhayam and Kolangal which was aired on Sun TV. Her daughter Aruna got married to Ramesh Subramanian in 2013 while her son Arun got married to Pavithra in 2014. Rani mostly acted in Tamil and Malayalam industries and worked with stars like Mammootty, Mohan, Mohanlal and Vijayakanth. But it was her pair with Mohan who became a major hit.

During the 80’s, she appeared in several Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films including Kaviratna Kalidasa, Punnami Naagu, Agnisaram, Ranuva Veeran, Shapatha, Sangharshana, Intiguttu, Coolie, Nimishangal and more. She was also seen in many Tamil serials like Krishnadasi, Kolangal and Chinna Paapa Periya Paapa, which was aired on Sun TV. Nalini was also part of the serial, Bandham in 2006 and Idhayam in 2009. Nalini’s entry in small screen happened in 2001 after she got her divorce from Ramarajan. Both Nalini and Ramarajan were mainstream actors in 1980’s. Nalini has acted in several movies in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam pairing with the then top heroes like Vijaykanth, Mohan, Mamooty and many others. She acted in more than 100 films and even now appears in small roles in many films. Her father vaikom Murthy was a dance choreographer.

Nalini as a serial actress is a big hit and her body language both in negative roles and comedy roles are admired by all. Since 2000 she has acted in almost 17 serials (including the ones which are being telecasted now) and her first ever serial Krishnadasi, though her role was not a main role because of wide acceptance it was made one later.
