Plot

The story is about two convicts Mustafa and Vimal who are being transported to a different jail, who escape during transport due to an accident of their vehicle.

Mustafa is convicted for stealing a watch while Vimal is falsely accussed of a murder, the plot explores how Mustafa helps Vimal in finding the real murderer in return of some money.

Star Performance

The film stars Both Biju Menon as Mustafa and Indrajith Sukumaran as Vimal who are convicts who escaped during transport from Peermade to Ernakulam.

All the actors did a fantastic job of portraying their roles and bringing the story to life.

Analysis

The movie revolves around two convicts Mustafa and Vimal who are being taken from Peermade to Ernakulam.

The vehicle transporting them meets with an accident, and they both escape being chained together. It is revealed that Mustafa is convicted for a petty crime of stealing a watch. In contrast, court convicts Vimal for a murder that he insists he did not commit, and seeks Mustafa’s help inorder to find the real murderer, for which Vimal offers Mustafa some money too.

We see how Vimal, a rich man, lived with his wife Shalini, who was murdered under mysterious circumstances, and someone framed him for her murder.

It is later revealed that Mustafa was the one who accidentally murdered Shalini. He had kept the watch he stole in Shalini’s bag and when went to retrieve it Shalini mistook him for a criminal and accidentally fell from the terrace.

Mustafa later admits that it was an accident and saves Vimal, he serves his sentence and receives the promised amount of money from Vimal towards the end of the film as we watch both of them settling down in life.

What’s There?

The story is thrilling throughout the film.
The film also contains some comedy scenes.

What’s Not There?

The film lacks good writing in terms of scenes and dialogues.
The CGI used in the film is below average.

Verdict

The film “Lakshyam” is an excellent Malayalam film with great storyline and fantastic portrayal of characters by the actors, but it certainly carries its negative points such as the bad CGI used in the film.

The film beautifully captures the two walks of life as we see the rich life guy Vimal and the way his life is entirely different from Mustafa’s, yet what they share in common is the goodness in their heart.

Overall, “Lakshyam” is an average film that takes us through the lives of two convicts who are good at heart but seem to be taking a lot of time to make decisions.
