Plot

Chithini is a horror film about the trapped spirit of a woman named Chithini in Pammukaddu. According to the locals, the spirit is of a woman who dies while being pregnant. A lot of unexplainable deaths have taken place in this place, and the locals believe that it is because of the woman’s spirit. She manages to break free of her shackles after two whole decades and now she’s full of rage and vengence. C. I. Alan Antony and his wife are the main characters of this film. Antony happens to go to that village for work-related reasons initially. However, later, he goes to Pammukaddu along with Ghost Hunter Vishal, intending to find the truth behind the strange happenings in the area and the truth behind Chithini’s death. While they are there, they experience frightening and mysterious things. The rest of the film shows how Chithini chooses to be the victim of her suppressed rage.

Star Performance

Mokksha’s performance is good, but in some parts, she overdoes it, making it over dramatic.

Amith Chakalakkal’s performance, although good, seemed to struggle with the dialogues.

Analysis

The film’s writing and execution was terrible. Although the cast chosen was good, they struggled with the script. They don’t seem comfortable with the dialogues and I also think that the dialogues were terrible. The dialogues are not natural, don’t have a flow to them, and are way too cheesy. They are so unrealistic that it almost makes it comedic, even though this is supposed to be a horror film. The scene where Alan’s spouse fights off goons felt like a joke as it looked unrealistic. Enakshi Ganguly’s performance was disappointing and abysmal. The movie’s visuals weren’t impressive and felt cheap as though there was a lack of effort to make it look visually appealing. The music that has been used perfectly matches the purpose of this film.

What’s There?

  • The cast was good but the execution was poor.
  • The music in the film was good.

What’s Not There?

  • The script was abysmal.
  • The execution and performance by the cast members was bad.
  • Dialogues were unrealistic and overdone.
  • The visuals felt mediocre and unappealing to look at.

Verdict

The film’s execution was terrible and so many aspects were inferior that I would not recommend anybody to watch this film.
